Flaxseed and cardiovascular disease!

The American Heart Association found that women with an increased intake of lignans and isoflavones in soy and flaxseed reduced the risk for atherosclerosis and arterial degeneration. Flax is by far the richest source of lignans, according to the Journal of the American College of Nutrition.

Can Flaxseed cancer prevention?

Recently, small studies of cancer patients in America, which consumes Flaxseed have some encouraging results. In one study men with prostate cancer who ate one ounces ground flaxseed per day as part of a very low-fat diet were able to slow the progress of cancer between the time they were diagnosed at the time of surgery. A similar study of women undergoing surgery for breast cancer are expected noted that those who create a daily flaxseed muffin tumor had a slower growth. Several studies of animals, too, suggest some anti-cancer benefit from flaxseed.

How can I Flaxseed?

Whole golden flaxseed, the clean, dry and of good quality, can be stored at room temperature for up to one year. For optimum freshness, ground flax seed should vary according to demand. Unused ground flaxseed can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container if they are used in only a matter of days, or they can in the freezer for about a month.

Ground flax can be added to your morning juice or milk chocolate - usually one or two heaping tablespoon with your favorite beverage. Or you can sprinkle ground flax on cereal or yogurt.
