Cholesterol is a fatty, viscous substance by the liver. This substance has many purposes in the body and in normal quantities, it is bénéfice for the proper functioning of the organism. Cholesterol is a very important role in protecting blood cells from damage by their superficial membrane. The body also uses cholesterol for the production of bile acids (which are crucial for the digestion of fat), vitamin D and hormones (testosterone and estrogen).

Smoking also causes a lot of damage to the arteries and facilitate the accumulation of cholesterol in the bloodstream. Smoking is a major factor in the risk of heart disease and many people who have abnormally high blood cholesterol are smokers. Alcohol abuse is also a factor of risk in heart disease, as it also raises blood cholesterol levels.

Whether high blood cholesterol is the result of internal disorder or the result of an unhealthy lifestyle and diet, it is important to take steps to normalize their values. Avoid smoking, the consumption of alcohol and fatty foods if you have a high blood-cholesterol levels. An adequate diet rich in unsaturated fatty acids, complex carbohydrates and natural fibers can help in the prevention of deposits and cholesterol in the blood can also prevent about their accumulation in the body. Regular physical activity is a good means to improve the circulation and thus the discharge of arteries clogged with cholesterol.
