rheumatic heart disease treatment

rheumatic heart disease treatment
We have known for years that high blood sugar is a health risk for people with diabetes. Diabetiker In a high average blood sugar increases the risk for blindness, kidney disease and nerve damage. It also increases the risk of heart - disease, which for 80 % of deaths in people with diabetes.

A study conducted at the University of Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine recently discovered that non-diabetics are also at much higher risk of heart disease and other fatal diseases, if their blood glucose levels are above normal.

This gives us one more reason to lose weight and reduce or eliminate sugar from our diet. It is not just about losing weight, look better - it's about health.

A study led by Kay-Tee Khaw, MD, was in the 21st September 2004 issue of the Annals of Internal Medicine.

It was found that for men and women, even those without diabetes, there is a strong relationship between high average blood sugar level and cardiovascular disease. In fact, high blood sugar levels seem to be a risk factor for deaths from all causes.

The high-glycemic risk was in patients with moderately elevated average blood glucose levels, which are almost "normal" for Americans.

Three-quarters of the 521 deaths from all causes of the study were people with moderately elevated average blood glucose levels between 5% and 6.9%. With the lowest rates of heart disease and death had blood glucose levels below 5%, as measured by a test called hemoglobin 1c (HbA1c).

Each 1% increase in blood sugar increases the risk of death from all causes - by 28% for women and 24% for men. These risks were independent of other risk factors such as age, body mass index (BMI), systolic blood pressure, cholesterol counts, smoking, or history of heart disease.

How significant are these results for the average American? With every small increase in average blood glucose levels, even as small as a 0.1% increase in the risk of heart disease increases. And only about 1 / 4 of the population has average blood glucose levels in the safe 5%. Unfortunately, the tendency is for our blood sugar levels to rise as obesity increases our activity and our decline.

As we have more fat on our bodies are less able to manage the surplus of sugar from the blood, since these extra fat cells to an insulin reduced. Obese people are particularly vulnerable to high blood sugar levels, so that a diet high in vegetables and fruit instead of sugar and simple carbohydrates, is even more important for those of us who are a little more weight.
