death from ischemic heart disease

According to the American Heart Association, heart disease is the nation's leading single cause of death for men and women. At least 58.8 million people in this country suffer from some form of cardiovascular disease. The people have an increased risk of heart attack than women, and they have attacks earlier in life. Even after menopause, when women, mortality from heart disease increases, it is not as great as for men. But the good news is that measures can be taken to prevent heart disease. Studies show that nearly everyone can be more heart healthy by using a few important steps, such as eating a healthy diet, exercise, smoking, and maintaining a healthy body weight.

The American Heart Association has several risk factors. Some of them can be changed, treated or controlled, and some not. The more risk factors you have, the greater the chance of developing cardiovascular disease. Also, the greater the level of each risk factor, the greater the risk. For example, a person with a cholesterol of 300 mg / dL has a greater risk than someone with a cholesterol of 245 mg / dl, even if everyone with a total cholesterol greater than 240 is high risk.

Food has a strong influence on health. What you eat, the interaction with other risk factors that significantly determine the development of cardiovascular disease. The main components of the diet are fats, carbohydrates, protein, fiber, vitamins and minerals. The goals of a heart-healthy diet are foods to eat to obtain or maintain healthy levels of cholesterol and lipids (fat molecules) through the achievement of the following:

ท lowering the total cholesterol and low-density lipoproteins (LDL) which is harmful for the heart.

ท increasing high-density lipoproteins (HDL), the beneficial for the heart.

ท Reducing other harmful lipids (fatty molecules) such as tri-glycerides and lipoprotein (a).
