inflammation is a way the body responds to infections or injuries. We all know the classic symptoms of an inflammatory immune response - redness, the stains on the skin and swelling. But inflammation can occur in small amounts over long periods of time in our cardiovascular system, a condition as a chronic infection.
You can not "feel" This type of inflammation, but scientists believe is a chronic inflammation in the development of cardiovascular diseases. It can cause damage to blood vessels and atherosclerosis, insulin resistance and obesity.
Chronic inflammation in the blood vessels may be due to smoking, high blood pressure and injury to the vessels that arise from IT, oxidative stress and high blood glucose levels.
Although the "lipid hypothesis" is the most commonly accepted explanation for why we develop cardiovascular disease, many people who have normal levels of blood lipids or heart attack, stroke, arteriosclerosis and develop marine and other diseases. Inflammation and the resulting damage to blood vessels may be an explanation for these cases, the untreated blood fats.
How is an inflammation measured?
The inflammation is an immune response, as such, which are very complex and cellular pathways. Many events in the circulatory system can lead to the production of inflammatory substances. And the release of these substances leads to further events and cellular responses.
Scientists have certain substances as a marker for inflammation. In other words, when an inflammation occurs, the amounts of these substances is considered part of the immune response. Such a substance is C-reactive protein (CRP.)
People who have a high CRP tend to be a heart attack, stroke, diabetes and metabolic syndrome. As with any biomarker, it is not fully known whether high CRP damage and subsequent illness or whether high CRP only happen to coincide with other events occurring in the heart and cause of the damage.
Other substances were also as potential markers of inflammation in determining cardiovascular disease risk. These include SAA SICAM-1, IL-6 and IL-18.
If you have a CRP Blood Test?
Although CRP is not the actual cause of the disease, it may still be important to know a patient of blood levels of CRP. Research has shown that when CRP levels are taken into account, a patient of the general risk of heart attack, stroke and heart disease is accurately determined, as with tests of the blood lipids levels (cholesterol and triglycerides) alone.
Although the American Heart Association is not defined, a chronic inflammation or CRP levels as independent risk factors for cardiovascular disease, they have noted the importance of blood tests for CRP. While CRP is not recommended as a screening tool for cardiovascular risk for all, a CRP blood test can be helpful in determining how to treat a person who is already at an increased risk for heart disease.
The measurement of CRP in the blood, is an attempt to be highly sensitive C-reactive protein test (hs-CRP) performed. The American Heart Association and the Centers for Disease Control agreed to the following translations of CRP in the blood:
Low risk: <1.0 mg / L
Average risk: 1.0-3.0 mg / L
High risk:> 3.0 mg / L

Heart attack and stroke are not the only conditions that may be affected by the level of CRP in the blood. This is not surprising that the health of blood vessels is important that all parts of the body systems. Vascular dementia and cerebral small vessel disease were found to be related to higher blood levels of CRP.
If you are trying to Lower CRP?
Because of the strong relationship between high CRP and risk of heart disease, the researchers investigated whether the treatment of persons with lower CRP levels will lower risk. For example, statins (a class of cholesterol-reducing drugs) have shown that lower CRP, and some studies show that people with normal blood fats can still benefit from statin therapy because of CRP in the blood decreased.
On the basis of existing evidence, but the American Heart Association does not approve CRP-lowering treatment to reduce heart disease risk. This is an active area of research, however, and it is possible that in the future it will be generally available treatments to lower CRP.
